Between 1983 and 1986, the Star Company held the only license to produce NBA cards, filling the void left when major manufacturers stepped away from the sport. Because these cards were distributed in sealed team bags rather than traditional wax packs, they were produced in much smaller quantities—often limited to roughly 5,000 sets per release.
