Suga initially reached out to Psy with an instrumental track he believed was perfect for the veteran artist. Suga originally intended to only produce the song, but Psy gradually convinced him to feature on the track, then appear in the music video, and finally learn the intense choreography—a process Suga jokingly compared to being "tricked" into a full-fledged idol role.
