After her high-profile boyfriend Andrew (Patrick Dempsey)—the son of the NYC Mayor—proposes, Melanie must return to her rural hometown of Pigeon Creek, Alabama, to settle a major secret: she is still legally married to her high school sweetheart, Jake (Josh Lucas).
